After opening up tournament play at Kennesaw Mountain with a win over St. Pius, the Lady Panthers of Jackson County followed last week with a loss to Lovett before ending their tournament with a victory over Gordon Central.
Up next for Jackson County is a trip to East Jackson to face the Lady Eagles on Friday.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The Lady Panthers traveled back to Kennesaw Mountain last week to resume play in the Mountain Thanksgiving Classic.
They first faced a strong Lovett team, who came away with a 45-13 victory.
Coach Chad Pittman said while it may sound bad when you read it, his team went 6-35 from the floor, but held Lovett to 45 points.
“Realistically, I was happy with the effort,” he said. “I was really pleased with our defense. Obviously, the offense, I can’t get mad at anybody for shooting and missing. We took good looks, they just didn’t go in.”
Pittman said the thing that cost his team was the number of turnovers.
“That was the only thing I was frustrated about in that game,” he said. “The intensity and the effort was good for us. We just did not shoot the ball well at all. When you say the score, it seems like it was a beat down, but it really wasn’t like that.”
Breanna Drew scored four points in the game, as did Ashley Skelton. Katie Rodriguez scored three points and Emily Elrod scored two.
Up next was a Wednesday game against Gordon Central to close tournament play. The Lady Panthers rebounded from their previous game against Lovett to go 17-37 from the field and 3-7 from the three-point line to win 58-48.
Drew scored 40 points and had eight rebounds. Skelton scored 18 points against the Lady Warriors, and hit several free throws down the stretch to help put the game away.
