The magical season came to an end for the Apalachee High School football team Friday night.
Visiting Griffin High School, who entered the postseason as the No. 1 team in Class AAAA, took a 24-3 victory at R. Harold Harrison Stadium in the quarterfinal round of the playoffs. The Bears led 7-3 at halftime but used an interception return for a touchdown in the third quarter to seize momentum after the Wildcats had taken possession with a chance to move in front.
Griffin, who improved to 13-0, advances to the semi-finals. AHS finishes the 2009 season at 12-1, advancing to the quarterfinals for the first time in school history.
No. 1 Griffin too much for AHS
