The East Jackson Eagles saw their 2009 football season come to a close Friday night at the hands of the Lovett Lions, who defeated the Eagles 58-0 in Atlanta.
The loss leaves the Eagles with a 10-2 record and 8-1 in the region in only their second season of region play.
The Eagles got a break early but could not capitalize. Derrick Bozeman picked off a pass during the Lions’ first play, taking it back to the 42-yard line.
But their possession didn’t last long, and when the Lions got the ball again, they marched downfield and with just under eight minutes left in the first quarter, scored their first touchdown to move ahead 7-0. The rout was on.
