THE 2008-09 season was certainly a successful one for the Jefferson Dragons basketball team.
The Dragons went 21-5 overall and 8-3 in region play and went into region play as the number one seed after going 6-0 in the subregion.
The post season didn’t go as well, however, as the Dragons fell in the elimination round in the region tournament, marking the first time in 10 years that the Dragons didn’t go to the state tournament.
But that was last year. The Dragons will start anew next week, as they will play host to the Tabo’s Tip-Off Tournament beginning Nov. 21, and continuing Nov. 24, 25 and 28.
Jefferson will follow tournament play up with a trip to Atlanta to face North Hall at Phillips Arena on Dec. 2.
The Dragons will renew their age old fight with the Commerce Tigers at Commerce on Dec. 4, then continue with two more road games on Dec. 8 at Fannin County and Dec. 11 at Dawson County.
Jefferson will play host to Rabun County on Dec. 12, then host Riverside Military Academy on Dec. 15. The Dragons will play their final game prior to the Christmas break on Dec. 18 at Oconee County.
They’ll close out the ’09 part of the season with tournament play at Pickens County.
