Commerce’s Cheer Tigers picked up their 11th Region 8-A championship title last weekend at Loganville, beating Social Circle and Hebron. The squad now advances to the state competition in Columbus Saturday, Nov. 14.

The Commerce High School Cheer Tigers won their 11th Region 8-A Championship title on Saturday.

The Cheer Tigers competed at Loganville High School, outscoring Social Circle and Hebron by 50 points.

“The team performed at its best,” said coach Dianne Cotrell. “The timing and stunting was great. I was very proud of them.”

Commerce’s cheerleading squad will now advance to the state championship on Saturday in Columbus. The Cheer Tigers will compete against 15 Class A schools starting at 9:00 a.m.

“This week we’ll work on fine-tuning everything in the routine,” said Cotrell. “It will be tough because Trion and Bremen will be back, but we will be ready for the challenge.”

While the varsity squad prepares for a trip to the state championships, the Commerce Middle School Competitive Cheer Tigers celebrate an undefeated season.

The co-ed squad earned top marks throughout the season and the CMS squad wrapped their season on Oct. 31 at Winder-Barrow.
