Trae Timmerman was named to the 2009 All-Region second team. He placed highest of the Jefferson boys at the region meet last week.

The Jefferson cross country girls team are headed to state competition this weekend after coming home with a fourth place finish at the 8-AA region meet at Riverside Military Academy last week.

The Lady Dragons finished behind Dawson County, East Jackson and North Oconee, and beat out Union County.

Cara Smith was the top performer for Jefferson, placing 10th overall with a time of 22:13. Laura Price finished 16th with a 22:58. Lauren Phillips finished 18th with a 23:05. Jessica Runkel placed 25th with a 23:43. Zoe Cown finished 39th with a 25:44. Holly Baron placed 44th with a 27:36.

The boys, meanwhile, placed seventh overall in the region. The top performer for the Dragons was Trae Timmerman, who finished 14th with an 18:34. Michael Stephenson finished 35th with a 19:30. Jake Sherman placed 36th with a 19:34. Jake Marlow finished 42nd with a 19:56. Cannon Joiner finished 55th with a 20:59. Cole Edwards finished 58th with a 21:15. Matt Deremer placed 59th with a 21:35.
