East Jackson Looks For Pre-Halloween Treat At Dawsonville

Nobody in their wildest dreams would have expected the East Jackson Eagles to be 8-0 at this point in the season.

But all that stands between the Eagles and a huge in-county showdown with unbeaten Jefferson Nov. 6 in Jefferson is Friday’s contest at Dawson County against the 1-7 Tigers.

Eagle fans have got to like the odds.

They’re coming off an 18-10 win over previously unbeaten North Oconee. The Tigers enter play following a 44-14 thumping by Union County.

The Eagles are averaging 36.6 points a game, to Dawson County’s 9.1. Meanwhile the Eagles allow an average of 16.3 points per game scored against them, while Dawson County’s foes have managed 28.9 points per game.

Last Halloween, the Eagles prevailed 28-21 in the two teams’ only meeting.

Meanwhile, the Jefferson Dragons, defending region champs and also 8-0 this season, travel to North Oconee to take on the 7-1 Titans.

A victory there would pit the two unbeaten squads in a winner-take-all game Nov. 6 for the 8AA title, the top seed in the first round of the Class AA playoffs and — perhaps most important — Jackson County bragging rights.

The coaching staff at EJCHS has alot to do with the winning record. They all get into the game, and it sets an example for the kids. Great job coaches you deserve to win!
