World Crown weekend shaping up at Gresham

Fleeman – a Dacula resident - and his No. 98 US Auto Sales racer were among the first to file entries for this year’s World Crown 300 at GMP. Also entered in this year’s event is three time World Crown champ Paul Kelley of Pendergrass, who just missed being a four-time winner last year.

Others also posting early entries for the 26th annual event includes Chase Elliott, son of Sprint Cup champion Bill Elliott, Scott Sutherland of Jefferson, former Jefferson resident Ryan Crane, Commerce racer Taylor Satterfield, Jimmy Garmon of Hoschton, Shane Sawyer of Braselton and Max Gresham of Griffin.

The format for this year’s World Crown 300 headliner will feature three 100-lap segments with competition cautions at laps 100 and 200. The five-lap competition caution periods will not count toward the final 300-lap distance. All other caution laps during the event will be counted.

In addition to Sunday’s 300-lap Late Model event, this year’s World Crown weekend will be action packed with racing in multiple divisions. Friday’s on-track events will be highlighted by the INEX/600 Racing Series Legends, Bandoleros and Thunder Roadsters and will mark the first-ever appearance for the divisions in the more than 40-year history of the track.

Saturday’s World Crown action will feature main events in the Mini-Stock, Renegade (Street Stock), Trucks and Iceman Late Models as well as qualifying for the Late Models for Sunday’s World Crown 300.
