“It took our offense a little bit to get rolling,” Corley said. “When we did we were effective.”

An interception return by Rockdale County near the end of the first half helped put WBHS “behind the 8 ball,” Corley said.

“We just weren’t able to get off the field defensively,” Corley said. “We have emphasized the importance of finishing a possession when we have a chance. We were much better overall although the scoreboard doesn’t show it. Hopefully, we can slow people down enough to give ourselves a chance in future games.”

The Rockdale County Bulldogs were able to convert on six third down attempts and on an additional three fourth down tries.

Rockdale County was able to grind it out offensively for 383 yards with Kyle Tippins leading the way going over the 200-yard mark.

The host Bulldogs jumped out to a 14-0 lead before WBHS was able to get on the board. With Davila directing the offense, Corley’s Bulldoggs moved 89 yards in just over a minute culminating with a 21-yard strike to Demeritte in the endzone.

Rockdale County would answer, however, and go on an 80-yard drive to move back in front by two scores.

The game’s momentum completey moved in Rockdale’s favor when Darius Lucas returned an interception for a touchdown with 23 seconds left before halftime and a 27-7 lead.
Corley’s team would get as close as 27-14 on a 37-yard hookup from Davila to Demeritte in the third quarter.

Rockdale County would answer, however, with another long drive, this time from 80 yards out to move back in front 34-14.
