Eagles Take Top Honors In MainStreet Meet

The East Jackson Eagles cross-country teams, both the boys and girls, won last week’s MainStreet Meet at East Jackson.

For the boys, it was their third straight win, as they put eight runners in the top 10 and 13 in the top 25 finishers.

Kevin Kesler was top finisher for the boys with a second place finish, just a step out of first place with a time of 18:05.

For the girls, Sherri Blalock led the Lady Eagles to a first-place team win as the Lady Eagles stopped the Jefferson Lady Dragons Mainstreet winning streak at two.

“What I saw in the meet was all the teams in the meet improving from the beginning of the year and really getting their squads ready for their regions,” said coach Bob Roller.

“We still have some work to do to get ourselves in contention for a chase at the title with the girls and boys, particularly on the first mile. We have to improve our mile times to give us a chance to make a push for the title. If we do not, then we will be just chasing.”
