Tigers Need To Run The Table

With three games left in the 2009 season and coming off their first region loss last Friday, the Commerce Tigers can secure the number two seed in Region 8-A by running the table over Lakeview, Social Circle and Prince Avenue.

If they’re successful, the second seed would allow the Tigers to enter the Class A playoffs with a home-field advantage.

Commerce held its own for the first half of last Friday’s game against the top-ranked Wesleyan Wolves. But it was another story in the second half.

The Tigers held a 3-0 lead at the half, but ultimately fell 28-3, thanks largely to Tiger miscues in the second half that shortened the field for three Wesleyan scoring drives.

This week, Commerce returns home to host Lakeview Academy.

Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.

Lakeview is winless in region play with a 1-5 overall record. Last year, Commerce defeated Lakeview 47-7.
