It was another rough outing for the Jackson County Panthers, as they continue to look for their first region win of the year.
Friday night saw a match-up with Eastside that resulted in a 48-0 victory for the Eagles.
The Panthers will play their final home game of the season Friday night, as they play host to the Elbert County Blue Devils.
The Blue Devils are 3-1 in the region, and 6-1 overall. They come to town off of a 27-7 victory over Franklin County Friday.
Elbert County appears to have the advantage on paper going into Friday’s game. So far this season, the Blue Devils have scored 202 points overall, an average of 28.9 points per game. Jackson County has scored 120 points so far this season, an average of 17.1 points per game.
The Panthers have allowed 156 points to be scored against them this year, an average of 22.3 per game, while Elbert County has allowed 82 points to be scored, an 11.7 points per game average.
In their last pairing, the Blue Devils just squeaked out a 25-23 victory over the Panthers in October of last year.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
Eastside
It was not the kind of night the Panthers were hoping for when they took to the field Friday.
The Eagles of Eastside, who entered the game undefeated in region play, broke into the Jackson County end zone in the first quarter, taking a 7-0 lead.
But it was in the second quarter that Eastside did all their damage. The Eagles scored five times before halftime to jump out to a commanding lead.
The Panthers, in the meantime, worked to try to get themselves into position to mount a charge. But twice drives were killed by interceptions.
Eastside would add to their lead in the second half, and in the end, came away with a 48-0 shutout over Jackson County.
