AHS tries to stay perfect against Loganville

“In both of their losses, they turned the football over several times,” Davis said. “They had six turnovers against Habersham Central and also had several against Clarke Central in the first game of the season.”

With two losses already on their record, the LHS Red Devils really can’t afford many more. For that reason, Davis knows his team has to be ready to play when kickoff arrives this week.

“They need a win,” the AHS coach said. “A loss would give them three defeats and while I think a team is going to make the playoffs from our region with three losses, I know they aren’t looking to get their third loss at this point. A win keeps them in very good position and you never know what might happen.”

Davis said while LHS will not be the most physically imposing team AHS will face in 2009, the Red Devils are “well coached” and “play really hard.”

“We will try to be ready,” the Wildcat coach said as he worked late Sunday night. “It’s tough as coaches in this region when teams are as evenly matched. It is emotionally and pysically draining. We have to get ourselves ready to go and be as hungry as they are. Sometimes it’s easier when your back is against the wall.”

Davis warned that even one loss for AHS could set into a motion a chain of events where one defeat could lead to two or three.

“That’s why you have to be prepared every week, every game,” the Wildcat mentor said.
