Despite losing just once during the entire postseason Madison County’s Little League softball all-stars will settle for runners-up honors.
The team lost to Pioneer Little League, 7-1, in the state championship at West Point Little League Thursday night, coming one win short of advancing to the regionals next week in St. Petersburg, Fla.
But it was a memorable summer, even without the state tournament trophy.
“I told them I really appreciated that opportunity to coach them,” manager Danny Pruett said. “They gave me a great summer.”
Pruett said his players will look back on this summer fondly as they grow older.
“The girls learned a lot things about themselves and grew from being girls to young ladies over a summer and that was really neat to see,” he said.
