Eagles Defeat Banks Co. To Enter Bye Week

The East Jackson Eagles continued their undefeated march across region 8-AA Friday night with a 21-6 victory over the Banks County Leopards in Homer.

The Eagles go into a bye week for 8-AA with a 5-0 region record and 6-0 overall.

They will next face the Rabun County Wildcats Oct. 16 at East Jackson. Rabun County is coming off of a 48-0 loss to North Oconee and is winless since the season opener Aug. 28.

Banks County

In their first pairing last year, the Eagles found themselves on the short end of a 42-0 score against the Banks County Leopards. That was far from the case Friday night, as the undefeated East Jackson team rolled through Homer.

Deon Sewell put the first Eagle points on the board about halfway through the second quarter, scoring on a five-yard run. A successful PAT gave East Jackson a 7-0 lead.

Scott Hill caught a 10-yard pass from Evan Williamson in the third quarter to build on the Eagles lead.

The nail in the coffin came in the latter part of the fourth quarter, when Tyler Collins returned a punt 65 yards for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, the Eagle defense held Banks County to six points.
