The Commerce Tigers started their 2009 region campaign at home with a solid victory over Athens Academy last Friday night. This week the Tigers hit the road headed to Athens to face their second region opponent, Athens Christian.
Kickoff is at 7:30.
Last week’s win was big. Beating the Spartans gives the Tigers a shot at a higher seeding in the playoffs and could set up a region showdown with powerhouse Wesleyan on Oct. 16. Wesleyan won the region last year and then won the Class A state title.
Deon Brock scored all four of the Tigers’ touchdowns last Friday and made the second longest TD run in team history.
