East Jackson Comprehensive High School's Band Booster Association is sponsoring the inaugural Georgia Contest of Champions this Saturday, Oct. 10, at East Jackson's Eagle Stadium.
The event features competitive and non-competitive high school marching bands from around the Southeast.
The groups will receive professional critique from judges for a rating of Superior, Excellent or Good. The bands will also be ranked for first through third place awards in the following categories: band, color-guard, drum line, drum major, majorettes and dance line.
Bands begin competing at 3:00 pm and continue all evening. Some of the bands to be included are Madison County, Monroe Area, Sonoraville, Central Gwinnett, Union Grove, Elbert County, Greenbriar, Chestatee, Evans, Norcross, Northgate, North Augusta, Baldwin and Brookwood. The hosting East Jackson County High School Band will perform in exhibition at 9:15 p.m.
Tickets are $7 for adult, ages
65 and over are $5 and children under five years old are free with a paying adult.
All proceeds support the East Jackson High School, Middle School and Kings Bridge band programs.
