The Lady Dragons of Jefferson wrapped up its regular season last week with a victory over the East Jackson Eagles.
Jefferson finished the season 3-6 in the region, and 8-10 overall, placing seventh in the region.
Region tournament play is slated to begin this week.
The Lady Dragons started off last week with a trip to Rabun County. Jefferson took control early, putting two runs on the board in the top of the first, and then adding five more in the top of the second. After a scoreless third, the Lady Dragons added three more runs in the top of the fourth, and would hold Rabun scoreless to win 10-0 in five innings.
Morgan McKinney recorded the win from the mound, giving up only three hits while striking out six in five innings.
Brittney Smith went 2-3 at the plate, scoring three runs. Jordyn Whitfield went 3-4, with two RBIs and three runs scored. Sydney Roberts went 1-4 with two RBIs and one run scored. Kasey McDonald went 2-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Morgan McKinney went 2-3 with two RBIs. Paige Pate went 1-3. Catherine Knight went 2-3 with one run scored.
The Lady Dragons next traveled to North Oconee for a game against the Lady Titans.
North Oconee came out strong in the bottom of the first inning, putting five runs across to take an early lead. The Lady Titans would add an additional run in the bottom of the third and another in the bottom of the fifth while holding Jefferson to only one hit on the night. In the end, it was North Oconee coming away with a 7-0 victory.
Morgan McKinney recorded the loss, giving up eight hits and seven runs while striking out one batter.
McKinney also recorded the Lady Dragons’ lone hit of the night.
Jefferson closed out their regular season with a trip to East Jackson to face the Lady Eagles.
After starting out with three scoreless innings, the Lady Dragons got on the board first in the top of the second by getting two runners across.
While East Jackson threatened on several occasions, they couldn’t close the deal, while the Lady Dragons went on to add runs in the top of the sixth and the top of the seventh. The Lady Dragons would eventually win 4-0.
