Leopards host East Jackson Friday night

Banks County had a rough Friday night last week as the Leopards were handed down a 47-0 defeat by the North Oconee Titans.

The loss moves the Leopards to 2-2 in region play and 2-3 overall as Banks County prepares to face East Jackson this week at home.

East Jackson is undefeated in the 2009 season and on paper, holds a clear advantage over the Leopards.

The Eagles have scored 216 points, while Banks County has put up 83 points.

East Jackson has allowed 108 points, while the Leopards have allowed 139. Last year, in their only previous meeting, the Leopards defeated East Jackson in a powerful 42-0 sweep.

This season, Banks will have to work hard on the field if the Leopards want to defeat East Jackson.

“East Jackson is a good football team,” said coach Blair Armstrong. “They have improved from last year, and they got everybody back basically. We graduated 20 seniors and have eight seniors now. So, the playing field is a lot more level for them now … We have a very good chance to beat them as long as we keep our heads.”

The Leopards will kickoff against East Jackson Friday night in Homer at 7:30 p.m.
