In the Eastside match Jefferson started strong with 8 aces from Cassie Metcalf.
“Our hitting was off tonight and Eastside was able to get back in the first game,” said coach Michael Paul.
The Dragons would win the first set 25-22.
In the second set, Jefferson covered the floor well with good defense and passing to take the set 25-22, and the match 2-0.
“Karla Carreno seemed to be everywhere on defense and made several big digs to keep rallies going,” Paul said.
Against Eastside, Cassie Metcalf had eight aces and two kills. Amanda Daniel had three aces, two kills and six assists. Karla Carreno had one ace. Stephanie Fincher had six kills. Taylor Cramsey had three kills. Eden Starnes had two kills. Carolyn Carreno had three assists.
In the East Jackson match Jefferson took the lead early and never looked back, winning 2-0 with set scores of 25-15 and 25-11.
“Although the serving was not as strong as in the match against Eastside, our hitting came back,” Paul said.
Against East Jackson, Cassie Metcalf had one ace. Taylor Cramsey had three aces and six kills. Bree Shields had two aces. Amanda Daniel had three kills and 13 assists. Stephanie Fincher had 12 kills. Eden Starnes had two kills. Carolyn Carreno had one kill and four assists. Karla Carreno had one assist.
On Thursday, Jefferson traveled to Prince Avenue for a quad match.
In the first match, the Lady Dragons beat Athens Christian 2-0 with set scores of 25-14 and 25-15. Stephanie Fincher led the attack with nine kills while Taylor Cramsey added five. Cramsey also had six aces for the match. Amanda Daniel and Carolyn Carreno had seven and eight assists respectively.
In the second match, Jefferson faced off against Prince Avenue. The Lady Dragons got off to a slow start, going down 1-7 at one point, but rallied to win the first set 25-23. Prince Avenue came away with the win in the second set 18-25, but Jefferson took the match with the third set win, 25-13.
For the match Stephanie Fincher had 16 kills and six digs. Karla Carreno had two aces and six digs.
“Carolyn Carreno and Amanda Daniel had great games setting because the passes reached them easily,” Paul said. “We played one of our best matches of the season against a very good Prince avenue team. We played our best when our best was needed.”
Things didn’t go as well against North Oconee, as Jefferson committed 10 unforced errors in the first set, losing 14-25. The Lady Dragons rallied in the second set, to win 25-18.
The third set had several lead changes, but in the end, it was North Oconee taking the set 25-21 and the match 2-0.
