Jefferson capped off play last week with a victory over Oglethorpe County on senior night, recording their first region win of the season.
They’ll return to the mound today (Wednesday) at North Oconee, as they take on the Lady Titans, who are undefeated in region play.
First pitch is scheduled for 5:55 p.m.
The Lady Dragons started out last week by hosting Dawson County Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Tigers struck first, getting runners across in the top of the second and again in the top of the third to move ahead 2-0. Dawson County would add three more runs in the top of the fifth to move ahead to a 5-0 lead. Jefferson’s lone run would come in the bottom of the sixth, as Dawson County went on to win 5-1.
Morgan McKinney recorded the loss from the mound, giving up six hits and five runs in just over four and a half innings. She struck out seven batters.
Brittney Smith went 1-3 at the plate, scoring one run. Jordyn Whitfield went 1-3. Paige Pate went 1-3. Kara Perry went 1-3. Catherine Knight went 1-3. Sydney Roberts recorded an RBI.
Up next was a trip to Union County to face the Lady Panthers. Union County got things going early on by putting a run on the board in the bottom of the first inning. Jefferson answered by scoring a run in the top of the third, but the Lady Panthers responded by adding their second run of the night in the bottom of the inning, then two more in the bottom of the fourth. Union County succeeded in holding the Lady
Dragons at bay while adding another run to their tally in the bottom of the fifth, as they went on to win 5-1.
Kara Perry recorded the loss. She gave up 11 hits and five runs while striking out four batters in five innings.
Brittney Smith went 2-3 at the plate, with an RBI. Morgan McKinney went 1-3. Cason Anderson went 1-2 with a run scored. Catherine Knight went 1-3.
Next up was the final home game of the season for the Lady Dragons, as they hosted Oglethorpe County on senior night.
Jefferson took control early, putting four runners across in the bottom of the first inning, and then adding two more in the bottom of the second. Oglethorpe got one lone run across in the top of the fifth, but would come no closer, as the Lady Dragons won 6-1, recording their first region win of the season.
