Bulldoggs look to make it two in a row Friday

“They are big and physical and have skill players who can hurt you,” Corley said. “Their quarterback is strong and they have two running backs. It’s the same scenario every week you hear about. However, they can really play. It is going to be a battle for us.”

The Raiders are led by first-year head coach Stuart Cunningham, who like Corley served as long-time defensive coordinator before taking the reins as head coach.
“He’s been there for years and does a great job of preparing their kids,” Corley said. “It has been a seamless transition for them.”

Habersham Central hasn’t changed much scheme-wise despite the coaching change. Corley said the Raiders run a similar offense and defense to WBHS.

“It will be a game where we see who can execute the best,” Corley said. “They do a great job in the running game. We’ll have to be ready in all phases.”

Habersham Central is 2-2 and comes into this week’s contest off a 31-27 victory over defending region champion Loganville.

The Raiders are led by quarterback Austin Brown, who has passed for 546 yards in four games this season and running backs Kevin Ellison (177 yards, three touchdowns) and David Griffin (210 yards, three touchdowns).

Wide receiver Chuck Rucker has caught 15 passes for Habersham Central in 2009.
