WBHS runners take first

The Winder-Barrow High School cross country teams used the friendly confines of their home course to record first-place finishes last week in a tri-meet.

The Lady Bulldoggs were paced by standout Amanda Cope who completed the course at Bramlett Elementary School in 21:05. Teammate Caitlin Connell was second for the WBHS girls, finishing the event 23 seconds behind Cope.

For the WBHS boys, Chris Webb finished first in 18:46 holding off several of his teammates in the process.

Ryan Weathers, Chris Cope, Charles Peppers and Josh Timms each had strong races for the Bulldoggs.

For the WBHS girls, Rebecca Gregory, Anna Dean and Bethaney Murphy rounded out the top five.

The WBHS teams are scheduled to compete at the Gunderson Invitational in Conyers Saturday at the Georgia International Horse Park. Apalachee is also scheduled to compete.
