BCHS defeats Dawson, ready for Rabun

The Leopards have finally put one in the win column, as Banks County defeated Dawson County 32-21 last Friday.

The victory gives the Leopards a much need boost with a 1-1 record, 1-2 overall heading into Friday night’s game hosting Rabun County.

The Wildcats are 0-2 in region play with a 17-point scoring average. Banks County is averaging 21 points per game and will look to repeat last season’s 35-6 win, but head coach Blair Armstrong is expecting a strong opponent.

“They look to be bigger and stronger than last year and will be a formidable opponent,” Armstrong said.
Banks will also be missing some players due to injuries.

Running back Dylan Lackey is not expected to return after a knee injury last Friday at Dawson County and, according to Armstrong, the Leopards have a couple of players with minor sprains that they are keeping an eye on. Armstrong said that this week in practice some of the younger players would be experimented with in different positions to help fill in the gaps.

The key for a Leopard victory will be to hold onto the football and limit the number of turnovers which is something Armstrong said the Leopards are working on doing.

Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. at the Leopard stadium.
