WBHS looks for first win Friday

“They are athletic, just like every team we face,” Corley said. “They have some kids who can move you around. They are going to be disciplined.”

The Patriots, coached by Chad Frazier, are fresh off their initial victory of 2009 having defeated county rival Rockdale 14-10 last week. Previously, Heritage had fallen to Salem (21-3) and Habersham Central (13-12) to open the campaign.

The contest will be vital for both teams if they hope to keep postseason hopes alive for this season. For Corley and his Bulldoggs, just getting into the win column would be huge.

“It’s tough getting over the hump,” the second-year WBHS head coach said. “The only way I know how to do it is to continue to work hard and stress the fundamentals. By doing that you can make the little things go in your favor. We have kids who believe in what we are doing.”

WBHS quarterback Christian Davila was 18-of-26 last Friday for 145 yards. Tyler Coleman was his favorite target as he hauled in 79 yards receiving during the region contest on the road.
