Lady Wildcats not satisfied with accomplishments

Apalachee High School softball coach Mike Cavey has plenty to be happy about.

His Lady Wildcats were 4-1 in region play going into this week with the lone loss coming to ranked Madison County.

In recent action, AHS has recorded wins against Cedar Shoals, Loganville and Clarke Central with each game being a no-hitter for the Lady Cats.

Senior Kaitlyn Medlam and freshman Ashley Gunter have led the charge and Cavey said they have benefited from strong run support.

However, the AHS coach is not satisfied yet knowing his team can accomplish even more before the 2009 season is complete.

Ansley Thompson, Mendy Henson, Jordan Allen and Shawnee Patterson have been some of the offensive leaders for the Lady Cats and their averages are all above the .350 mark.

The team is currently 10-7 overall and have an extremely busy week with its toughest region games plus the Brookwood Tournament in which AHS will face Grayson, Whitewater and Houston County.

“All three teams are ranked in the Top 10 in their respective classifications,” Cavey said.
