Lady Dragons beat Lakeview, JCCHS

Jefferson traveled to Lakeview Academy last Thursday to face the Lady Lions. Lakeview won the first set decidedly, 19-25. The Lady Dragons trailed 23-20 in the second set until Taylor Cramsey stepped back to serve. During her serve, Jefferson scored five unanswered points to win the set.

In the third set, the score went back and forth between the two teams until Cassie Metcalf scored six straight points. The Lady Dragons won the set 25-11, and the match 2-1.

Stephanie Fincher, who connected on 15 kills with only two errors, led Jefferson’s offense. Amanda Daniel had 11 assists. Carolyn Carreno had eight assists.

“Lakeview is a very good team,” said coach Michael Paul. “We played one of our best matches of the season to beat them in a very tough and highly competitive match.”

Jefferson went on to face Jackson County in a non-area match later in the evening, defeating the Lady Panthers 2-0 with set scores of 25-20 and 25-14. The match gave Jefferson a chance to play some of their reserves, which Paul said performed very well.
