The Apalachee High School football team will host a state-ranked foe Friday when the Clarke Central Gladiators march into R. Harold Harrison Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
The Wildcats (2-0 overall, 2-0 in Region 8-AAAA) are coming off a bye week while the Gladiators defeated Habersham Central. Clarke Central is a perfect 3-0 in region play and is the lone 8-AAAA team in the Top 10 at No. 8 in the latest poll released Monday.
AHS coach Shane Davis said the winner of the contest will have gain an advantage in the battle for region race, at least at this point in the season.
