Lady Tigers Start Region Play 1-1

Commerce Lady Tigers had an up and down start in region play. They started region competition Sept. 1, hosting Towns County for a 10-2 win. The Lady Tigers then headed to Social Circle on Thursday where they were disappointed by a 5-2 loss.

This week, Commerce returned from the Labor Day break to host Prince Avenue on Tuesday. Scores from Tuesday’s game were unavailable at press time.

Tomorrow, (Thursday) the Lady Tigers are back on the road at Athens Christian, who they beat earlier. Athens Christian is 0-1 in the region and 1-5 overall. Commerce is 3-5 overall and 1-1 in region play.

Coach Pam Canup said that the ladies will have to play well and eliminate mistakes since both teams have improved since the first meeting.

Game time is 4:45 p.m. at Athens Christian.

The Lady Tigers will also compete in the rescheduled Towns County tournament Saturday that was rained out in August.
