Bulldoggs look to bounce back at Cedar Shoals

“That’s the nature of the game,” Corley said. “By the time the players are back with us, the coaches have already broken everything down and moved on. You really don’t have time to dwell on it, even though it was a loss that really hurt and one you will always be disappointed about.”

The WBHS coaching staff spent the weekend grading the Madison County game but also looking ahead to this Friday.

“Cedar Shoals is big and physical,” Corley said. “They have good athletes. They don’t do anything fancy. They just line up and go get you. We have to try and find an answer for how physical they will be.”

Noting the Jaguars will be “strong up front,” the Bulldogg coach said the key for his team will be to “execute the things we do well.”

Cedar Shoals is coming off a 12-6 loss to Apalachee and enters the contest 1-1 in region play. The game certainly has importance for both teams.

If the WBHS team plays to its potential, a victory is obtainable, its coach said.

“We don’t have to play perfect or above our heads,” Corley said. “If we stand in there and battle, we have a chance.”

The Bulldoggs emerged from their season opener with no significant injuries.

“No one has anything that will keep them out this week,” Corley said of his team’s second contest.
