After last week’s matches, the Jefferson Lady Dragons volleyball team is in the midst of a nine match winning streak, and is currently undefeated in the area with a 3-0 record.
Next up is a trip to Lakeview Academy to face the Lady Lions as well as the Lady Panthers of Jackson County.
Match time is scheduled for 5 p.m.
Rabun County
Last Tuesday, the Lady Dragons traveled to Rabun County for a single match against the Lady Wildcats. After a slow start, the score was 15-15 in the first set. That’s when Cassie Metcalf stepped back to serve, connecting on four aces. The team then rallied to finish 25-18.
In the second set, Jefferson was paced by strong serving again by Metcalf, as well as solid play by Megan Wilson, Taylor Cramsey and Carolyn Carreno off the bench. The Lady Dragons won 25-19, giving them a 2-0 victory over Rabun County.
Cassie Metcalf had four aces against Rabun County. Megan Wilson had one.
Cassie Metcalf had one kill. Stephanie Fincher had five. Taylor Cramsey had four. Eden Starnes had three.
Mandy Daniel had one assist. Karla Carreno had 10.
East Jackson
On Thursday, the Lady Dragons hosted sub-area opponent East Jackson and Athens Christian.
Against East Jackson, Jefferson took an early lead in the first set and went on to win 25-7.
East Jackson rebounded in the second set, leading 13-3 at one point before Jefferson began making a charge.
East Jackson continued to lead until Stephanie Fincher stepped back to serve as the Lady Dragons trailed 24-20. Fincher, the team’s senior captain, served six straight points to help Jefferson win the set 26-24, and the match 2-0.
Against East Jackson, Cassie Metcalf had five kills, Mandy Daniel had two, Stephanie Fincher had eight, Taylor Cramsey had six, Eden Starnes had four and Carolyn Carreno had one.
Cassie Metcalf had seven aces against East Jackson. Hannah Gilbert had two and Stephanie Fincher had two.
Mandy Daniel had 12 assists. Karla Carreno had one and Carolyn Carreno had eight.
