The Lady Leopards softball team is on a roll after going undefeated to win the Commerce Invitational this past weekend. The ladies will work to maintain their winning streak as they prepare to begin region competition next week.

Banks County’s record sits at 7-3 overall, as the Lady Leopards prepare to host Franklin County today (Wednesday). Up next for the team, the Lady Leopards will face the Franklin County Lady Lions again on Tuesday, Sept. 1, in Carnesville.

Franklin County is 3-3 overall heading into tonight’s game with an average of 3.8 runs scored and 4.5 allowed. Banks County averages just over five runs per game while only allowing 1.5 runs.

The Lady Leopards will take on the Lady Lions at 5:55 p.m. Wednesday in Homer, and on Tuesday, at 5:55 p.m. in Carnesville.

Next Thursday, the Lady Leopards will begin the 2009 region campaign as the team meets region rival Jefferson on the road.

Jefferson defeated the Lady Leopards last season 7-2, but so far this year, the Lady Dragons have not pulled very far ahead.

Jefferson is 4-4 entering into the Sept. 3 game, where last season the Lady Dragons were already holding a 5-3 record.

Jefferson averages 3.4 runs per game scoring while allowing 4.3 runs on average. Banks County will begin region play Sept. 3 in Jefferson at 5:55 p.m.
