Tigers To ‘Put On Good Show’ At Jefferson Fri.

While Jefferson carries a two-game winning streak since 2007, Commerce has historically dominated the rivalry with 41 wins and 17 losses against the Dragons.

Coach Steve Savage led the Tigers in their longest winning steak of 12 games, but Jefferson ended the streak in 2007 with a 42-7 victory and made it two in a row last year with a convincing 35-14 win. Last season was also the first time that the teams have opened against each other.

The last time the Tigers won at Jefferson was the 2004 double-overtime game where Commerce made a field goal to win 34-31.

“We have gone hard in practice,” said Savage adding that he has been pleased with the players so far and their attention to directions.

Savage said that he expects the Jefferson squad to bring its normal level of skill into the Friday’s game.

“Jefferson is going to have a good club,” said Savage.
