Lady Tigers Pick Up First Wins In ‘09

Wednesday’s game against Hart County will be a rematch of the preseason scrimmage. The AAA Hart County Lady Bulldogs are coming off a 5-0 loss to Jackson County Monday night as well as losses to Hebron Christian Academy. Game time for the Lady Tigers versus the Lady Bulldogs is 5:55 p.m. in Hartwell following the JV game at 4:30.

Returning closer to home on Thursday, Commerce will square off against non-region rival Jefferson as the Lady Dragons will attempt to repeat a 10-0 performance from last season. The 8-AA Jefferson team is 4-3 so far with an average of 3.7 runs per game. Commerce’s Lady Tigers are averaging 3.8 runs per game and have only allowed 11 runs compared to the Lady Dragons’ 29 runs allowed. The Lady Tigers are looking for their first win over Jefferson since 2007.

This weekend, the Lady Tigers will compete in the Towns Co./Young Harris College Invitational Tournament. According to coach Pam Canup, the tournament starts on Friday, but all of Commerce’s games are on Saturday.

The Lady Tigers will play at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. at Young Harris College with the final 5:30 p.m. game’s location being determined by seeding after the first three games.
