The Jefferson Lady Dragons softball team find themselves in the midst of a two game winning streak after recording wins against Providence Christian and Wesleyan.
Jefferson next plays host to their in-county rival, Commerce, in a Thursday pairing.
First pitch is scheduled for 5:45 p.m.
Jefferson’s current win streak began last Tuesday as they played host to the Providence Christian Stars.
Providence took an early lead, scoring a runner in the second to make the score 1-0. They held the Lady Dragons at bay until the fifth inning, when Jefferson scored their first run of the game to tie the score.
In the bottom of the seventh, Jefferson scored again to break the tie and take a 2-1 victory.
Kara Perry recorded the win, giving up just three hits in seven innings.
Lindsey Miles went 2-3 at the plate with 2 RBIs. Anna Alexander went 1-3. Brittney Smith had an RBI. Paige Pate went 1-2.
Jefferson next traveled to Norcross to face the Lady Wolves of Wesleyan, the sixth ranked team in the state in class A.
Both teams seemed on equal footing for the first five innings, but in the top of the fifth, the Lady Dragons broke out, scoring four runs. Wesleyan would get only one runner across in the bottom of the seventh as the Lady Dragons went on to win 4-1.
