The Jefferson Lady Dragons volleyball team have won two and lost one match in the last week, as they faced Athens Academy, West Hall and Hebron Christian.
The Lady Dragons continue their season by playing their first area match of the season Thursday when they play host to Lakeview Academy, and non-region rival Flowery Branch.
Game time is scheduled for 5 p.m.
Jefferson traveled to Athens Academy on August 18, coming away with a 3-0 loss to the Spartans. Match scores were 25-13, 25-12 and 25-18.
“Athens Academy is a very strong team and most likely the team to beat in Area 8 A/AA this season,” said coach Mike Paul. “Our team played well at times but at other times our weaknesses were exposed.
It’s good to play good competition early in the season as it aids you in knowing what you need to concentrate on in practice.”
Cassie Metcalf and Taylor Cramsey had two aces each against Athens Academy. Karla Carreno had three kills while Stephanie Fincher had two kills. Mandy Daniel had three assists and Karla Carreno had two assists. As a team, Jefferson had 10 blocks and 11 digs.
On Thursday, Jefferson hosted both West Hall and Hebron Christian Academy. In the first match of the evening Jefferson defeated West Hall 2-1 with scores of 25-21, 25-12 and 25-23.
Stephanie Fincher and Taylor Cramsey combined for seven kills in the second game. Jefferson finished the third game with five aces and 12 kills led by Fincher with six. Mandy Daniel and Karla Carreno finished the match with 20 assists.
