Jefferson hosts West Hall, Hebron Thurs.

The Jefferson High School Lady Dragons volleyball team started their 2009 season this weekend.

The Lady Dragons faced Jackson County in a scrimmage game on Thursday, and then took part in a varsity play date at East Jackson on Saturday.

They will next take to the court Thursday at home against West Hall and Hebron. Matches are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.

On Thursday, Jefferson played host to the Lady Panthers of Jackson County for a scrimmage. The Lady Dragons came away with a 3-0 victory, with set scores of 25-16, 25-6, and 25-17.

“It was a great night for us and helps us get ready for the regular season,” said Jefferson coach Michael Paul.

The Lady Dragons kicked off their season with a play date at East Jackson, as Jefferson played matches against all of the teams from 8 A/AA South, finishing 2-3 on the day, with wins against Walnut Grove and Athens Christian. Jefferson also faced Prince Avenue Christian, Athens Academy and North Oconee.
