The Lady Panthers of Jackson County opened up their 2009 season with back-to-back wins in a double header against Johnson Saturday.
Jackson County will next take part in the Hawk Bulldog Invitational at West Jackson Park beginning today (Wednesday) with a matchup against Peachtree Ridge. First pitch is slated for 5 p.m.
In game one on Saturday, the Lady Panthers came away with an 11-1 victory in five innings.
Zoe Evans recorded the win on the mound, striking out five while allowing only two hits and one run scored. Drake Vissering went 2-3 at the plate with two RBIs off of a double. Andrea Ledford went 2-4.
In game two, the Lady Panthers came away with an 11-0 win in five innings. Haley Shinall recorded the win, striking out eight batters in three innings. Freshman Madison Whitmire had three RBIs at the plate, while junior Jessika Laird went 2-2.
