With only three weeks left before the Commerce 2009 cross country schedule gets under way, coach Mark Hale is excited about the first few weeks of practice.
He’s particularly curious about how his girls’ squad will do.
The Lady Tiger are starting from scratch. They have no runners returning from 2008, but Hale said that a number of newcomers have come out for the team.
Commerce Cross Country Ready To Start, Sept. 10
“Several have expressed interest,” Hale said, “and I look forward to seeing how they do…”
The Lady Tigers are not ranked for the pre-season because for the past several years they’ve not had enough numbers to officially compete.
The boys are projected in seventh spot in the region.
A key for the Tigers is junior Ethan Thomas, who begins his third year on the team, and expected to have some successful meets in the 2009 season.
