Tigers Suit Up For ‘09

Commerce head coach Steve Savage wasn’t wasting any time as the Tigers began practice Saturday morning.

Commerce is coming off a 5-5 regular season and a loss in the first round of the Class A playoffs to begin a fresh season.

Once again, Commerce will kindle the fire against rival Jefferson in the season opener, Aug. 28 at Jefferson. Last year, the AA Dragons won 35-13 for their second consecutive victory in the cross-river rivalry.

In the upcoming season, Commerce will play the same schedule as last year.

Following the opener at Jefferson, Commerce opens at home Sept. 4 against Morgan County, anticipating a repeat of the 2008, 33-23 win over the AAA school.
