Another summer swim season ends on a high note for the Commerce Tiger Sharks. They brought home state titles in three events from Saturday’s meet in Tifton.
Commerce took 22 swimmers to south Georgia to compete in the Georgia Recreation and Park Association State meet. Of those, 20 swimmers qualified to compete in the finals, with five swimmers coming out of the pool with state champion medals.
Kate Massey won the individual medley with a 1:37.59 finish that was three seconds faster than her preliminary time.
Kendall Moon, shown here from earlier action, was one of several Commerce swimmers who brought home top 10 finishes from the state swim meet last weekend in Tifton.

Killer K Relay Team (Kyla, Kenzie, Kaylee, Kennedy & Kate), all of you earned that FIRST PLACE spot! Your hard work paid off!
Thank you Coach Pam, Coach Nick & Coach Josh for all you do to help our swimmers better themselves individually and as a team. You are an awesome set of leaders!
The waves crashed gently against the sand
In an instant
A single wave and we were down
A moment later, a step away,
A rip tide had our 9 year old daughter
She did not panic
She held her own against the ocean
She saw us coming
She turned to watch the ocean and what it was bringing behind her
Her father got to her first
He reached for my hand as the ocean pulled them both backward
Seven people died that weekend
My daughter was not one of them
For what you have given my child
Nick, Pam and Josh
We will forever be grateful
Commerce Tiger Sharks Swim Team,
It’s not just a sport
