It was a busy holiday weekend for several local racers, as events took place at tracks all over the southeast.
Paul Kelley of Pendergrass took the win in the 100-lap Pro Late Model feature at Lanier National Speedway Friday night, one night after taking third at Peach State Speedway.
Kelley led for the final 54 laps of the event.
Maysville’s Joey Love picked up his tenth victory of the year in the Open Wheeled Modified division at Lanier. It was also Love’s second win in as many weeks.
Hoschton’s Matt Linder scored his first career O’Reilly United Sprint Car Series win on June 28 in the second half of two 20-lap features at Traveler’s Rest, SC.
Linder started from the outside front row to take the win, holding off Pennsylvania native Trevor Lewis.
Linder finished fourth in the USCS Firecracker 100 at Camden Speedway in Tennesee Thursday night. Terry Gray won the event.
After wrapping up at Peach State Speedway Thursday night, several local competitors headed to Nashville to compete in the ASA Southeast Tour event at the Music City Motorplex. Dacula’s Russell Fleeman finished third, David Elliott of Suwanee finished fifth, and Commerce’s Taylor Satterfield finished 21st. Preston Peltier was flagged the winner, but was disqualified after an illegal cold air box was found on his car. That gave the win to Ryan Crane, who was also victorious Thursday night at Peach State Speedway.
Ty Lowe of Commerce finished sixth in the FASTRAK series event at Lavonia Speedway Friday night. Grant Jordan of Bowman won the event.
Lowe also took fifth in the FASTRACK Crate division event at Toccoa Speedway Saturday night.
Dacula’s Andy Lally, along with co-driver Ted Ballou, took fifth in the GT class, and 19th overall in Thursday’s Grand American sports car event at Daytona Beach, FL.
