Swimmers Set Team Record At North GA League Championships

The Tiger Sharks were riding a wave of momentum after District July 11, and brought home second place in the District 2 competition as well as a number of personal bests.

Commerce was awarded 584 points, marking its highest finish in the NGSL Championships in 10 years. To earn the points the Tiger Sharks had each of the 28 competing swimmers race in four individual events, and several swimmers also competing in two relay events. The top eight finishes in each event are awarded points.

Setting the bar for the Commerce swimmers were Brandon Liles, who tallied 23 points in the boys’ 9-10 class, and Taylor Lacey, who also scored 23 points in the girls’ 18-under division.

Kate Massey scored 21 points in the 7-8 girls’ class, while Kaylee Vandiver and McKenzie McRee each added 16 points in the same division.

Hannah Lacey scored 18 points in the 11-12 girls’ events, and Emmie Burley picked up 17 points in the 11-12 events.
In the boys’ 13-14 events, Jonathan Book tallied 13 points, while in the boys 18-under, Quinn Mashburn scored 10 points.
