Banks County will be sending a team to Canton to compete in the state tournament.
Banks’ recreation 9-10 year old team will begin their bid for state championship Saturday, July 4, in Canton. The first competition for the boys will be against Sandy Springs with the winner advancing to play on Sunday at noon.
The loser will play again on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
BCRD teams prepare for tournaments
The 9-10 year old team finished third in the Dizzy Dean District tournament after defeating Union County’s team and the Hall County Mudcats.
In the third game of the district tournament, Fannin County bumped Banks into the loser bracket where the team battled back against the Hall County Heat to secure third place.
The 9-10 year old girls will also be heading to state after being crowned the GRPA District 7 champions.
State play will begin for the girls July 10 in Jefferson.
The girls will take on the district 6 champions at 6 p.m. then will play again at 8 p.m. win or lose.

I want everyone to know how hard our boys played in the 10&under state tournment in Canton this pass week. I myself think the team as a whole did very good. I'm proud of not only them but also the coaches & the families that were their to support them. They deserve more praise than they get. They finished 5th in state. Great job guys.

we should be proud of the 10 and under boys and what they accomplished this summer. Also i like to congtratulate the 10 and under girls for winning the GRPA state title for the 3rd year in a row. Maybe we can start getting some respect.
