After delays due to rain, the East Jackson girls’ track team was finally able to wrap up their region meet last week.

The Lady Eagles finished sixth at region with 47 points. They trailed region champs North Oconee, Jefferson, Rabun County, Oglethorpe and Dawson County.

Jessie Harper was the only team member to qualify for state competition when she finished second in the high jump.

Other placers included Kelsey Thomas, who placed seventh in the 200-meters, and eighth in the 400-meters. Sherri Blalock placed fourth in the 1600-meters and sixth in the 800-meters. Amanda Anderson placed seventh in the 1600-meters and sixth in the 3200-meters. Carly Caswell placed seventh in the 3200-meters. Amanda Murphy finished sixth in the 300-meter hurdles and fifth in the long jump. Jeena Blackmon placed fifth in the shot put. Kassie Mull finished eighth in the shot put. Savannah Molina placed eighth in the discus.

The team of Jessie Harper, Murphy, Thomas, Blackmon, Blalock and Mull placed fifth in the 4x100. The team of Harper, Murphy, Thomas, Blalock, Courtney Clark and Mull finished fifth in the 4x400.
State competition gets underway Thursday in Albany.
