Two Eagles place at state meet

The East Jackson boys’ track season came to a close at the Georgia Olympics at Jefferson this past weekend, with two Eagles placing, while two others finished in the top 10.

Brandon Banks placed second in the state in the 1600-meters with a time of 4:39.410.

Banks won the region championship in the event last month.

Tyler Collins took sixth in the high jump with a jump at 6’4”.

Zach Cornell placed in the top ten in shot put, while Zach Gilbert placed in the top ten in the triple jump.

As a team, East Jackson tied for 15th with Oglethorpe County, trailing region opponents North Oconee and Jefferson.

“I am very proud of our guys in the fact they are learning how to compete,” said coach Steve Collins.
