Bogan Park Pool to hold senior workouts
Bogan Park pool will hold senior workouts on Mondays and Thursdays from 9:10 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the leisure pool. The fee is $2 per class. No registration is required for this drop-in class, but space is limited to 23 swimmers. Call 770.564.4650 for more information.
Suwanee Sports Academy to offer basketball camps
Suwanee Sports Academy is offering several basketball camps this summer. During July 21-24, Suwanee Sports Academy will offer a high performance basketball camp for grades 7-12. All camps are $205.

Duluth head soccer coach Gregg Tavani will host several soccer camps at Bunten Road Park in Duluth this summer. The camps are scheduled for July 7-11 and July 14-18. The camps are for boys and girls ages 7-15. Each camp runs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Cost is $145.
Tavani will also offer an elite camp for boys and girls ages 10-15 on July 7-11 and July 14-18. The Elite camps run from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. The cost is $65.

The Jackson County Parks and Recreation Department wants teams for league play.
Men’s, women’s and co-ed church teams are needed. The cost per team is $450 and the games are to be played at the Mountain Creek Church fields.

•Wrestling: Monday, July 7, through Thursday, July 10, 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. for ages seven to 12, covering fundamentals. The cost is $65 and the camp is at North Jackson Elementary School.
•Soccer, hosted by EuroTech Soccer: Monday, July 14, through Thursday, July 18, for ages four through six, the camp will be in the morning and the cost is $80. For ages seven to 18, camps will be both morning and afternoon, the cost is $100. The camp is at Lamar Murphy Park.
•Basketball: Monday, July 14, through Thursday, July 18, for ages eight to 12, as of January 1, 2008. Camp runs from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. girls on Monday and Wednesday; boys Tuesday and Thursday. Cost is $65 and will be at two locations, Benton Elementary and West Jackson Primary.
•Football: Monday, July 28, through Friday, August 1, 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. for ages nine to 12. Cost is $65 and game on Friday.
•Cheerleading: Monday, July 28, through Friday, August 1, 6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. for ages seven to 12. Cost is $65 and game on Friday.

Gainesville State College to offer swim lessons
Gainesville State College GSC) is offering summer swimming lessons for children ages 3 and up.
The classes will be held in GSC’s indoor pool. GSC offers swim lessons year-round.
The swimming lessons are based on the American Red Cross Learn to Swim program. Students will be grouped according to skill level, and experience. The teacher/student ratio of 1:3 ensures individualized attention for each child.
The next session begins July 7 and ends July 17.
The session meets eight times Monday thru Thursday. Participants may choose from the following times: 9:00 - 9:50 a.m., 10 - 10:50 a.m., 11 - 11:50 a.m., 12 - 12:50 p.m., 1 - 1:50 p.m., and 2 - 2:50 p.m.
The cost for this camp is $75.

BYSA to hold fall soccer registration on July 19
The Barrow Youth Soccer Association will be holding fall soccer registration on July 19 and July 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Barrow County Leisure Services building located at 175 Second Street in Winder.
Registration packets are available for download at www.barrowsoccer.com.
Uniform sizing will be done at the time of registration; sample uniforms will be available for fittings.
Football officials needed
The Lanier Football Officials Association is now accepting applications.
“Football officiating allows you to be a mentor to the players because you’re enforcing the rules and upholding the integrity of the game,” said Ray McAllister, vice president of the association.
The Lanier Football Officials Association is now taking applications for the 2008 season. No experience is necessary and all training is provided.

Winder Barrow Speedway to be featured on radio
WIMO AM 1300 “Barrow’s Big Stick Radio” is now broadcasting racing from Winder Barrow Speedway.
Live broadcasts will begin with a pre-race show at 6:45 p.m. Hot laps at the track begin at 7 p.m. and racing starts at 7:30 p.m.
WIMO AM 1300 “Barrow’s Big Stick Radio” is the only licensed AM radio station in Barrow County and has been serving the local community for 55 years. WIMO simulcasts its broadcast signal on the station’s website www.bigstickradio.com.
Mill Creek High School to host Atlanta Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons have chosen Mill Creek High School Community Stadium as the venue for their final inter-squad scrimmage game of fall practice.
Mill Creek will host the Atlanta Falcons on Friday, August 1st. Time TBA.
Young Harris to host soccer camp
Young Harris College, home to the 2006 National Champion Lady Mountain Lions Soccer Team, will host a weekend/overnight soccer camp July 11-13. The camp is designed to help prepare and develop young women in the north Georgia and North Carolina areas for college soccer. Mature Middle School, JV and Varsity players are encouraged to attend.
Lady Mountain Lions coach Kathy Brown will be leading the camp. Brown was named Junior College Coach of the Year in 2003, NSCAA Coach of the Year for the South Region in 2004, and NSCAA Junior College Division 1 National Coach of the Year and NJCAA Coach of the Year in 2006.
