It was a wild night of racing Saturday at Lanier National Speedway that saw former track champ Dwayne Buggay pull out a win in the 40-lap Pro Late Model feature.
When the eight-car field took the green, pole sitter Dalton Grindle tangled with Braselton’s Shane Sawyer, resulting in Sawyer tagging the wall.
Sawyer’s night was done, and he would be credited with an sixth place finish.
Shawn Simpson would follow Buggay to the checkered flag to take second, while Tom Schuette took third, Grindle took fourth and Rodney Benefield finished fifth.
Jason Bates took the win in the Open Wheel Modified, holding off the only two other cars in the event, Alex Roberts and Randy Haney for the top spot in the 20-lap event.
Curt Britt held off Mark Wilbanks, Kristen Wallace and James Davidson to take top honors in the Super Truck event.
Spanky Hicks led flag-to-flag to pick up the win in the Mini-Stock event. B.J. Thrasher finished second, with Jefferson’s Steve Hill third, Aaron Calvert fourth and William Earnest finishing fifth.
Mike Davidson took first in the Sportsman division, with Jackie Daniel finishing second, Mark Burton third and Jon Martin fourth.
Winder’s Mike Childers took the win in the Street Stock division, with Bryan Beckner finishing second.
Hunter Kent led all 20 laps of the Pro Challenge event to take the win, with Kyle Benjamin, Brady Boswell, Tim Forpes and Jacob Wallis rounding out the top five.
Other winners on the night included Daniel Hamrick in the Legends Pro Masters division, Davey Mathews in the Legends Semi-Pro, and Cody Garland in the Bandeleros.

Commerce’s Keith Freeman finished 13th in the Carolina Clash at Hartwell Speedway Sunday. Jeff Smith took home the win.
Despite being caught up in a late race incident, Watkinsville’s John Wes Townley recorded a 17th place finish in the ARCA Re/Max series event Friday at Talladega Superspeedway. Justin Lofton came away with the win.
Townley would also race in the Nationwide series event on Saturday, finishing 18th. Unadilla driver David Ragan recorded the victory in a wild finish.
