Loss To Fannin Ends Eagles’ Season

The East Jackson Eagles saw their season come to a close on Friday as they were swept in a doubleheader in round one of the Region 8-AA playoffs by Fannin County.

Fannin edged the Eagles 4-3 in the first game, then buried them 12-2 in the second.

In game one, Fannin County scored three unearned runs in the first, then added another in the fourth to take a 4-0 lead.

The Eagles made a late charge, scoring three runs in the seventh. With the tying run on second, Hunter Beck hit a line drive up the middle. A diving catch by the Rebels’ second baseman ended the drive, and gave Fannin the 4-3 victory.

Nick Keyros recorded the loss.

The second game wasn’t even close. Four errors in the first two innings put the Eagles in a hole they could never climb out of, as Fannin went on to win 12-2 in five innings.

With his first season as head coach behind him, coach Josh Gandy said that from the first practice to the last game, his team has showed continual improvement.
