Special Olympics slated for May 8

Athletes from all over Jackson County will be participating in local games for the Special Olympics on Friday, May 8 at the JCCHS stadium.

The opening ceremony will be held at 10:15 a.m. with the awards ceremony to be held around 1 p.m.

Over 100 athletes will compete in games such as the 100-meter dash, softball throw, shot put and wheelchair races.

Everyone is invited to attend.

Concessions will be sold to support the games. Also for sale are t-shirts, pens, CDs of Mr. Singalong and other Special Olympics memorabilia.
